E-learning Module for Confidential Advisors in Prevention – Quarter 1

The module contains information, reflection questions, and several measurement moments to gather insights and sentiment. The modules can be shared via a platform, internal newsletter, or e-learning tool.

Safety Starts with Language

Objective: To provide insight into how language contributes to either a safe or unsafe working environment.

Introduction: The way we speak to each other greatly influences how safe we feel at work. Language can connect, but it can also exclude. Small remarks, jokes, or non-verbal cues can have more impact than we realize.

Content:

  • Examples of language that excludes or harms: “You’re being a bit sensitive today”,  “She’ll probably misunderstand it again.”
  • Examples of language that contributes to safety: “Can I share something I noticed with you?”, “I’d really like to understand how you experienced this.”

Reflection Questions:

  • When did you feel safe or unsafe because of something that was said?

  • Which words or responses make a difference for you?

Mini Poll:
“In my department, communication is respectful.” (Strongly agree – Strongly disagree)

Closing: Safe language doesn’t happen automatically. It requires awareness, practice, and feedback. You can make the difference.
